Tennis blanked at Slippery Rock, 7-0

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (April 22) - The California University of Pennsylvania tennis team dropped a 7-0 contest at Slippery Rock on Friday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play at the SRU Tennis Courts.

With the loss, the Vulcans fall to 8-8 overall this season with a 1-4 mark in league play. Meanwhile, The Rock improves to 12-6 overall behind a 5-1 mark in conference action.

Slippery Rock swept the doubles session on Friday to secure the doubles point. At first doubles, sophomore Carmen Duran (Barcelona, Spain/Esteve Albert) and freshman Maria Del Mar Ojeda (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Americano de Cali) suffered a 6-2 loss against Lois Page and Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez. Senior Fallon Winseck (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and freshman Teodora Iacob (Bucharest, Romania/O'Neill CVI (Ontario)) dropped a 6-2 contest at the second position to Gabriela del Val del Toro and Teddi Isherwood. At the third slot, sophomore Kylie Feltenberger (Polk, Pa./Franklin) and freshman Olivia Anastos (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) fell by a 6-2 margin to Zoe Heed and Georgie Lancaster

The Rock swept all six singles matches in the session on Friday to capture the match victory. Duran suffered a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Page at the first slot and Del Mar Ojeda was downed by Sanchez at the second position by a 6-3, 6-1 count. Winseck dropped a 6-1, 6-2 match at third singles to Del Val del Toro, while Feltenberger fell to Nuria Martin Lopez at the fourth position by a 6-0, 6-0 margin. Anastos was dealt a 6-0, 6-1 loss by Isherwood at fifth singles and Iacob suffered a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Heed at the sixth position.

Cal U closes out the regular season on Sunday, April 24, when it hosts Seton Hill for a conference match on Senior Day at Roadman Park, beginning at 2 p.m.
