Five players earn All-America status

Don Hansen All-America Teams

BROOKFIELD, Ill. (Feb. 4) – California University of Pennsylvania junior defensive back Jermal Martin, Jr. (South Philadelphia, Pa./Academy Park) and freshman kicker Anthony Beitko (White Oak, Pa./McKeesport) were recently selected to the Don Hansen All-America Teams and headlined a total of five honorees.

Martin earned First-Team All-America status and Beitko received Second-Team All-America laurels. Senior offensive lineman Eric Hudanick (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley), junior quarterback Noah Mitchell (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) and junior defensive lineman Derick Korboi (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) were tabbed All-America Honorable Mention.

Martin continued to add to his collection of post-season accolades, as he previously received First-Team All-America status from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), AP and D2CCA. He set a career high and ranked third on the team with 51 tackles (27 solo), plus registered 8.5 TFL and 4.0 sacks. Martin tied for second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) at the end of the regular season with four interceptions and was the lone player in the league with multiple interceptions returned for a touchdown. The Philadelphia native scored the most points by a defensive player in recent program history after also scoring on a defensive PAT and a punt return to finish the year with 20 points.

Beitko received All-America accolades for the fourth time this season, as he previously earned laruels from the AP, D2CCA and D2Football.com. Beitko led NCAA Division II with a .941 field-goal percentage (16-of-17) and totaled 86 points on 16 field goals and 38 PAT attempts. The McKeesport product finished fourth in the country with 1.60 field-goals per game and converted both of his attempts of at least 40 yards.

Mitchell registered a career year in his third season as a starter. He became one of three players in program history to be named both PSAC Freshman of the Year and PSAC Athlete of the Year in their careers. Mitchell ranked second in the league with a career-high 2,937 passing yards and a 64.4 completion percentage (251-of-390). The Ohio native tied for second in the league and matched his personal best with 25 passing touchdowns, while tying the school's all-time record with 69 passing touchdowns. Additionally, Mitchell is less than 550 yards shy of breaking the school career record for passing yards.

Hudanick received Don Hansen All-America Honorable Mention after repeating as a College Sports Infromation Directors of American (CoSIDA) Second-Team Academic All-American. He started all 10 games at right tackle this fall and finished his career as the team's active leader with 42 starts, including 32-consecutive starts at right tackle. The Seneca Valley product helped the Cal U offense finish third in the PSAC and rank among the top 15 in the nation with 306.6 passing yards per game. Hudanick also helped the Vulcans finish fourth in the league with 33.7 points per game while converting nearly 50 percent on third down.

Korboi earned All-America Honorable Mention after being tabbed to the All-PSAC West First-Team. He finished with 19 tackles (10 solo) and recorded a career-high 6.0 TFL with 2.0 sacks. The Upper Darby product helped anchor the top-ranked scoring defense and total defense in Super Region One, while helping a rushing defense rank among the top 10 in the county by allowing only 79.4 yards per game.
