JOHNSTOWN, PA. (Sept. 25) – Five different players scored one goal, plus junior
Jake Nebinski (Ardara, Pa./Nowin) collected two assists, as the Vulcans opened Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action with a 5-0 victory at Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team improves to 1-4-1 this season with a 1-0-0 mark in divisional play. The five goals by the Vulcans are the most in a league game since the 2016 season when they earned a 6-1 victory over the Mountain Cats. Meanwhile, UPJ falls to 1-4-1 overall and hold a 0-1-0 mark in conference play.
In the first half, the Vulcans took a 1-0 lead at the 13:18-mark when sophomore
Cullin Woytovich (Charleroi, Pa./Charleroi) scored his first career goal. Cal U extended the lead in the 24th minute when junior
Chance Pursifull (Germantown, Ohio/Valley View) converted a penalty kick after UPJ was issued a yellow card. With six minutes before halftime, Cal U struck again with freshman
DeVar Anderson (North Olmsted, Ohio/Saint Ignatius) scoring his first goal of the year off a pass from Nebinski to extend the lead to 3-0.
Cal U continued to apply pressure to UPJ in the second half, as it was able to stretch the lead to 4-0 at the 62:33-mark on a goal by freshman
Chris Garcia (Winchester, Va./James Wood). After a corner kick, Nebinski found Garcia who beat the goaltender to the bottom right corner of the net. With less than three minutes left in the contest, Cal U was able to add another goal when redshirt sophomore
Kobe Norfleet (Monongahela,Pa./Ringgold) took a pass from Woytovich and beat the goalie, 5-0.

Trevor Zabilowicz (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) finished with two saves while recording his first career shutout on Saturday.
The Vulcans return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 29, as they travel to face Slippery Rock in a PSAC West play at 1 p.m.
