LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Sept. 20) – The California University of Pennsylvania football team claimed a pair of weekly honors from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) on Monday morning, as sophomore linebacker
Noah Dillow (Alum Bank, Pa./White Oak) was named the West Defensive Athlete of the Week and freshman kicker
Anthony Beitko (White Oak, Pa./McKeesport) was chosen the West Special Teams Athlete of the Week.
Dillow and Beitko helped Cal U remain undefeated this season following a 30-0 victory against Millersville on Saturday. The Vulcans captured multiple Athlete of the Week recipients for the first time since Week 5 of the 2018 season.
The 2019 PSAC West Freshman of the Year, Dillow helped anchor a dominating defensive effort in the shutout of the Marauders on Saturday. He tied for the team lead with six tackles and registered 2.0 TFL and 1.0 sack in the victory. Cal U recorded back-to-back shutouts over the weekend for the first since 2012 while surrendering just 81 yards of total offense, including 22 rushing yards, and four first downs.
Dillow leads the team with 23 tackles (nine solo) this fall after setting a career high with 13 stops in the season-opener. He has also notched 4.0 TFL and 2.0 sacks over three games. Dillow received the weekly league honor for the second time in his career.
A product of McKeesport, Beitko tallied 12 points on three field goals and three PAT attempts in the victory over the Marauders. He converted a 29-yard field goal in the final minute of the first half to stretch the lead to 24-0 before making a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter, including a season-long 37-yard field goal with 7:58 left to play. Beikto also averaged 63.7 yards on six kickoffs with three touchbacks to force Millersville into an average starting position of its own 26-yard line.
Beitko leads the PSAC and ranks third in NCAA Division II with 2.33 field goals per game, while also sitting among the top 15 in the country with a conference-high 33 points. He has converted seven-of-seven field goals, including three of 30-plus yards, and 12-of-12 PAT attempts this season.
The Vulcans open divisional play on Saturday, Sept. 25, when they travel to face Edinboro at 12 p.m.
