CALIFORNIA (June 8) – The California University of Pennsylvania football program released its 11-game schedule for the upcoming 2021 season on Tuesday afternoon.
The schedule consists of the mandated 10 games established by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), which includes meetings against seven divisional opponents and three crossover games. Additionally, Cal U will be playing a non-conference opponent in the season-opener this fall.
The Vulcans will be playing five games at Adamson Stadium and six contests on the road, including three of the last four weeks. The schedule features four teams that have hired new head coaches since the conclusion of the 2019 season.
Cal U opens the campaign on Sept. 2 with a contest against former rival Fairmont State, as the teams previously played every year from 1993-2006. The Vulcans then play back-to-back crossover games against Lock Haven (Sept. 11) and Millersville (Sept. 18) at Adamson Stadium. Cal U will be playing its first home game in 673 days on Sept. 11 when it hosts the Bald Eagles.
The Vulcans begin PSAC West play on Sept. 25 against Edinboro before facing Mercyhurst on Homecoming at Adamson Stadium on Oct. 2. Cal U then travels to face Gannon on Oct. 9 before returning home on Oct. 16 versus Clarion.
The 12th edition of the Coal Bowl will be held on Oct. 23 at IUP before Cal U plays its final home game of the season on Oct. 30 against Seton Hill. The Vulcans close divisional play on Nov. 6 when they travel to face Slippery Rock, which went undefeated in league action in 2018 and 2019. Cal U is slated to end the regular season on Nov. 13 at Bloomsburg.
