YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Dec. 3) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's track & field team qualified seven entries for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Friday while opening the indoor season at the Youngstown State Icebreaker.
Juniors
Tymir Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa./ Overbrook) and
Kristopher Lytle (Columbia, Md./Atholton) reached the league standards in multiple events while in Ohio. Lytle posted a time of 7.06 seconds in the 60-meter dash and finished the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.64 seconds. Jackson crossed the finish line in 7.10 seconds in the 60 meters and recorded a time of 22.30 seconds in the 200 meters.
Senior
Jalen Cloud (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski) placed second in the triple jump on Friday with a conference-qualifying mark of 13.83 meters (45-4.5 feet) on his first attempt. Freshman
Logan Pfister (Fishertown, Pa./Chestnut Ridge), who is a wide receiver on the Cal U football team, qualified for the league championships and finished third in the high jump after clearing 2.00 meters (6-6.75 feet) on his first attempt at the height.
The 4x400-meter relay of senior
Avery Boea-Gisler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic), Jackson, Lytle and Cloud posted a time of 3 minutes, 26.24 seconds to place sixth in the event.
Boea-Gisler qualified for the conference meet in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.23 seconds.
Select members of the Vulcans will be competing at the Mike Kowal Indoor tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 4, in Edinboro, Pennsylvania.
