CALIFORNIA (Nov. 10) – A pair of former California University of Pennsylvania football players are currently with NFL teams and the sports information office provides an update of their progress through the midway point of the regular season.
CJ Goodwin (2013), Cornerback #29, Dallas Cowboys
Goodwin has appeared in all nine games on special teams with the Cowboys. He played 22 snaps on special teams in a 31-29 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football during opening night. Goodwin played 10 snaps during Week 2 in a 20-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers and made one solo tackle on special teams while totaling 11 snaps in a 41-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football in Week 3. He then played 19 snaps on special teams in a 36-28 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 4. Goodwin registered a solo tackle in Week 5 while playing 17 snaps on special teams in a 44-20 win over the New York Giants. After a bye in Week 7, Goodwin played 21 snaps on special teams in a 20-17 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football in Week 8. He then recorded a solo tackle in a 30-16 loss to the Denver Broncos while playing 16 snaps on special teams in Week 9.
Erik Harris (2008-11), Free Safety #23, Atlanta Falcons
Harris ranks third on the team with 35 tackles (27 solo) while starting seven games at free safety with the Falcons. He tallied six tackles (five solo) while playing 74 total snaps (65 of 71 defensive) in a 32-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. Harris recorded five solo tackles in Week 2 and played 64 combined snaps (56 of 63 defensive) in a 48-25 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He then recorded four tackles (three solo) and two pass break-ups while playing 80 combined snaps (all 70 defensive) in a 17-14 win over the New York Giants in Week 3. In Week 4, Harris recorded six tackles (four solo), three pass break-ups, and a quarterback hurry while playing 61 total snaps (58 of 67 defensive) in a 34-30 loss to the Washington Football Team. After being inactive in Week 5 and a bye in Week 6, Harris recorded six tackles (five solo) while playing 56 combined snaps (50 of 73 defensive) in a 30-28 victory over the Miami Dolphins. He then tallied seven tackles (five solo) and two pass break-ups while playing 78 combined snaps (all 74 defensive) in a 19-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 8. In Week 9, Harris registered eight tackles (seven solo) in a 27-25 win over the New Orleans Saints while playing 81 combined snaps (all 76 defensive).
