CALIFORNIA (Oct. 9) – Playing their first dual match in nearly two weeks, the Vulcans claimed a 6-1 win over Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover play at Roadman Park.
With the victory, the California University of Pennsylvania tennis team improves to 3-2 this fall while playing four home matches. Meanwhile, Shippensburg drops to 0-2 overall after opening dual play this weekend.
The Vulcans recorded the doubles point after sweeping the session against the Raiders on Saturday. At the first position, sophomore 
Carmen Duran (Barcelona, Spain/Esteve Albert) and senior 
Fallon Winseck (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) posted a 6-3 victory over Skylar Walder and Kendall Winters. Freshmen 
Maria Del Mar Ojeda (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Americano de Cali) and 
Teodora Iacob (Bucharest, Romania/O'Neill CVI (Ontario)) earned a 6-2 win at the second position against Brighid Cantwell and Jess Morrow. At third doubles, sophomore 
Kylie Feltenberger (Polk, Pa./Franklin) and freshman 
Olivia Hoin (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) collected a 6-3 victory over Kayla Tryanski and Sahar Islam.
Cal U earned the match victory after winning five singles matches in crossover action. Duran posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at the first position over Winters, while Del Mar Ojeda earned her team-leading fifth victory of the season on Saturday by recording a 6-2, 3-6, 10-3 win against Walder at second singles. Winseck claimed a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Cantwell at the third slot and Iacob registered a 6-1, 6-4 win at fourth singles against Islam. Feltenberger collected a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the fifth position against Tryanski on Saturday, while freshman 
Olivia Anastos (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) dropped a 6-1, 6-3 match to Morrow at sixth singles.
The Vulcans continue dual play on Tuesday, Oct. 12, when they travel to Elkins, West Virginia, to face Davis & Elkins at 3 p.m.
