#23 Slippery Rock v. Cal U (PSAC Tournament) – Nov. 5, 2008 – Roadman Park
The Vulcans secured their first appearance in the league tournament since 2005 on the final day of the regular season with a road win over The Rock. Cal U earned the first seed in the PSAC West by virtue of a 4-3-1 league mark and Slippery Rock finished 4-4 in divisional play. The contest featured a pair of dynamic forwards in Mike Luecke of Cal U and Jeremy Deighton of Slippery Rock. Luecke led the league with 17 goals during the regular season and ranked No. 12 in the country with 2.32 points per game, while Deighton tallied 14 goals in the regular season and was later named the 2008 PSAC West Athlete of the Year.

The Vulcans advanced to the PSAC Championship with a 3-1 victory after scoring a pair of second-half goals at Roadman Park. Cal U scored on a header in 10th minute before Slippery Rock tied the contest on a goal by Deighton at the 17:28-mark. Following the break, Spencer Crider scored the game-winning goal in the 52nd minute and Luecke added an insurance goal in the final 12 minutes to finish the game with four points (goal, two assists). Cal U later captured the first conference title in school history with a 3-2 win at No. 5 Millersville and earned the program's second berth to the NCAA Tournament.
