Shepherd v. #6 Cal U (NCAA Playoffs) – Dec. 1, 2007 – Adamson Stadium
The Vulcans were making their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Playoffs following an undefeated regular season. Meanwhile, the Rams captured the WVIAC Championship for the fourth-consecutive season and were playing in the regional final for a second-straight year. Cal U entered the contest ranked first in NCAA Division II in rushing defense, total defense and scoring defense. Shepherd boasted the top rusher in the country in Dervon Wallace at nearly 190 rushing yards per game.

The Vulcans captured the first regional championship in program history with a 58-38 win after totaling 311 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. Daine Williams finished with 179 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 33 attempts, while Windell Brown accounted for 115 rushing yards and three scores on just six carries. Cal U was forced to punt only once in the contest and amassed nearly 550 yards of total offense. Linebacker Gary Butler paced the team with 11 tackles (five solo) and registered 3.5 TFL and 2.0 sacks, while Josh Zunic added 2.0 TFL, 1.0 sack and one fumble recovery. Shepherd's Wallace was limited to only 51 rushing yards on 21 attempts.
