SPOTLIGHT

Clarion v. Cal U (PSAC Tournament) – Nov. 10, 2007 – Shippensburg, PA
The Vulcans were playing in the PSAC Championship for the third-straight year and entered play on a 30-match winning streak. Cal U went undefeated in divisional play during the regular season to earn the top seed in the PSAC West. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles were looking to capture their first conference title since 1988 after upsetting host Shippensburg, the top seed from the PSAC East, in the tournament semifinals. Cal U and Clarion entered the PSAC Tournament slotted first and second, respectively, in the NCAA Atlantic regional rankings.

Cal U claimed its second conference title in three years with a 3-0 victory (30-27, 37-35, 30-20) over Clarion. Amber Santavy was chosen MVP of the PSAC Tournament after tallying 16 kills and a team-high 22 digs in the championship. Joanna Nist recorded a match-high 18 kills and Katie Benick added 11 kills and four blocks, while Renata Silva guided the offense with 52 assists and collected 18 digs and three blocks. The Vulcans would later extend their winning streak to 34 matches by capturing the program's first regional title since 2000. Cal U also repeated as PSAC and regional champions in both 2008 and 2009.
