TORONTO (Nov. 8) – Former California University of Pennsylvania defensive back Tommie Campbell was recently named a CFL East Division All-Star while in his second season with the Montreal Alouettes.

Campbell has posted 66 tackles and recorded three interceptions and two forced fumbles over 16 games with the Alouettes, which will play in the CFL Eastern Semifinal on Sunday, Nov. 10. He ranks fourth on the team in tackles this year after tallying at least five stops in eight games this season, including three times from Weeks 16-19. Campbell also is tied for the team lead and 10th in the CFL with three interceptions.
 
A native of Aliquippa, Campbell was previously a CFL All-Star and CFL West Division All-Star while with Calgary Stampeders in 2016 – his debut season in the CFL. He has played in nearly 70 games over the last four seasons in the CFL and recorded over 200 tackles and nine interceptions while playing two years with both the Stampeders and Alouettes.

Campbell played his senior season with the Vulcans in 2010 and helped the program make a fourth-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Playoffs. He posted 29 tackles and a pair of interceptions over 12 games, including four starts. Campbell recorded both of his interceptions against Bloomsburg in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Playoffs and later played in the Eastham Energy All-Star Game and was a starter in the Cactus Bowl.
 
In April of 2011, Campbell was selected in the seventh round of the NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. He played in nearly 40 games, primarily on special teams, over three seasons with the Titans and scored a touchdown on a kickoff return in 2011. Campbell later appeared in seven games with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014 before starting his professional career in the CFL.
 
Campbell was part of a distinct secondary at Cal U in 2010 that featured three future NFL players, as Erik Harris and Rontez Miles were both starting safeties.

The 107th Grey Cup will be played on Nov. 24 at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta.
