CALIFORNIA (Oct. 11) – The California University of Pennsylvania football program will recognize two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship teams as part of Homecoming festivities on Saturday, Oct. 13, as the 1968 team will celebrate its 50th-year anniversary and the 2008 team will celebrate its 10th-year anniversary this weekend.
In 1968, the Vulcans made their first-ever appearance in the PSAC Championship with the season culminating with a 28-28 tie against East Stroudsburg at Booster Field (current site of the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility). Cal U twice overcame a 14-point deficit and was inside the opponent's 20-yard line when the final quarter expired.

Jeff Petrucci led the NAIA in total offense for the second-straight year and accounted for over 2,900 yards.
Five players from the 1968 team have been inducted into the Cal U Athletic Hall of Fame.
In 2008, Cal U repeated as NCAA National Semifinalists and finished with a 12-2 overall record. The Vulcans went undefeated in divisional play with a 7-0 record and advanced to the 'State Game,' which was being played for the first time since 1987. Cal U earned the league title with a 47-36 victory over West Chester with the teams combing for nearly 1,100 yards of total offense.

John Luckhardt, Cal U earned a first-round bye in the NCAA Playoffs before rolling to a 48-7 win over Seton Hill at Adamson Stadium. The Vulcans repeated as regional champions with a thrilling 27-24 victory at Bloomsburg with the game being decided in the final two minutes on a fumble inside the 10-yard line. Cal U hosted the NCAA Semifinals at Adamson Stadium for the second-straight year and suffered a loss to eventual-National Champion Minnesota Duluth.
Cal U featured a staggering 17 All-PSAC West selections in 2008 with two players earning All-America honors.
