CLERMONT, Fla. (March 12) – The Vulcans claimed a pair of victories on Sunday while in Florida at the PFX Spring Games, earning a 4-1 win against St. Thomas Aquinas (N.Y.) and a 10-0 run-rule victory over Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.).

With the wins, the California University of Pennsylvania softball team improves to 5-4 overall with all nine games having been played in the Sunshine State.

Against Concordia-St. Paul (2-10), junior center fielder Jacquelyn Fowler (Grove City, Ohio/Central Crossing) belted a pair of three-run homers, as she registered the first multi-homer game of her career and set a career high with six RBI. Freshman third baseman Paige Wilson (Warren, Pa./Warren) finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, while sophomore pitcher Taylor Robblee (Woodstock, Ontario/College Avenue) went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and scored three runs. Junior first baseman Hailey Wilson (Delaware, Ohio/Olentangy) added a pair of hits in the victory.

The Vulcans took a 4-0 lead in the top of the second after sophomore left fielder Abby Sachse (Sugarloaf, Pa./Hazleton) started the rally with a two-out walk. Following back-to-back singles, junior shortstop Emily Price (Warren, Ohio/Howland) drew a bases-loaded walk before Paige Wilson delivered a two-run single. Fowler then followed with her first three-run homer of the game. Cal U then loaded the bases again with back-to-back singles and an error before a fielder's choice ended the inning.

Robblee belted a solo homer in the third before Fowler delivered another three-run homer in the top of the fifth with two outs.

In the circle, Robblee improved to 2-2 this season after scattering two hits and no walks over 5.0 innings. She also recorded a career-high eight strikeouts while lowering her ERA to 0.98 this season.

The Spartans took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first before the Vulcans tied the score in the bottom of the inning. Price reached on an error and later advanced to second on a single by Fowler. Hailey Wilson then delivered a two-out double to tie the score. Cal U broke the tie in the fifth inning by scoring three runs on five singles.
