CALIFORNIA, Pa. (Sept. 7) – The Vulcans battled Seton Hill to a 0-0 double-overtime tie on Wednesday evening at the Phillipsburg Soccer Complex in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.
With the tie, the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team moves to 1-1-1 overall with the same record in conference action. Meanwhile, the Griffins stand at 1-1-1 this season, also all in league play. Seton Hill entered play having scored a combined five goals in its opening two contests of the year.
The first half ended with only the Griffins having registered shots, as they totaled six attempts with two on target. In the second half, Seton Hill posted 12 shots with six on net despite just one corner kick. The Vulcans tallied two shots on net in the second half with one on net and two corner kicks. Selena Fushimi-Karns (Dublin, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) having a one-on-one attempt before the Seton Hill goalie made the crucial save to preserve the tie.

Meghan Jayes (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) recorded nine saves in the contest for her 18th career shutout. Seton Hill goalkeeper Jesica Neill posted a pair of saves in 110 minutes of action.
Seton Hill held a sizeable 22-3 shot advantage, including nine on net, and also posted a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Cal U returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Clarion with the game at 1 p.m.
