EDINBORO, Pa. (Sept. 21) – Facing a nationally-ranked opponent for a consecutive game, the Vulcans dropped a 1-0 contest at No. 19 Edinboro on Wednesday evening in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.
With the loss, the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team falls to 1-4-2 this season with all seven games in conference action. Meanwhile, the Fighting Scots improve to 6-1 overall behind a 5-1 mark in league play.
The teams combined for eight shots in a scoreless first period before Edinboro registered the game-winning goal in the 74th minute when Sidney Dobbins scored (unassisted) from 20 yards out.

Meghan Jayes (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) nearly matched her career high by collecting nine saves in the losing effort. She becomes only the fourth player in school history, and the first since
Erin Cook (2006-08), to tally over 250 saves in a career. Edinboro junior Sarah Baskey registered her third shutout of the season on Wednesday.
The Fighting Scots out-shot the Vulcans by a sizeable 20-2 after attempting 13 shots in the second half. Edinboro also finished with a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
