CALIFORNIA (Sept 17) – The California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to No. 23 and preseason-league favorite West Chester on Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action at the Phillisburg Soccer Complex.
With the loss, the Vulcans fall to 1-3-2 with all six games in conference play. Meanwhile, the Rams improve to 6-0 on the season with six games also in league play.
West Chester took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute when Kara Parvel found the back of the net on a cross from Julia Kirkpatrick. The Vulcans had their best scoring opportunity of the game in the 60th minute when junior
Francesca Scenna (Cannonsburg, Pa/Cannon-McMillian) sent a header from a corner kick wide right. The Rams scored an insurance goal in the 76th minute when Jenny Bail found the back of the net on a breakaway.

Meghan Jayes (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) posted four saves in the losing effort.
West Chester finished the game with a 15-2 shot advantage and also held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Vulcans return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 21, when they travel to face Edinboro in conference play at 6 p.m.
