CALIFORNIA (Dec. 10) – The No. 3 Vulcans overcame first-half trouble and scored a combined 45 points in the second and third quarters on Saturday afternoon to record a 78-56 win over Shippensburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover action at the Convocation Center.
With the victory, the California University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team improves to 10-0 overall behind a 5-0 mark in conference play. Meanwhile, the Raiders fall to 5-4 this season with a 1-4 record in league action.

Miki Glenn (Bridgeport, W.Va./Bridgeport) led the team with 20 points behind 7-of-14 from the field, including three-of-four from beyond the arc. She also added seven assists, two steals and one block in the victory. Junior forward
Seairra Barrett (Center Twp., Pa./Central Valley) scored 17 points and led the team with five rebounds, while also posting five assists and three steals versus Shippensburg.

Precious Martin (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) collected 14 points, four rebounds and three steals. Sophomore
Abbey Sporio (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) registered 13 points on five-of-eight shooting and tallied five assists, five steals and three rebounds on Saturday.
Shippensburg jumped out to a 10-7 lead early in the first quarter before a layup from Barrett pulled Cal U to within 10-9. A 5-3 run from Shippensburg gave it a 15-12 lead before Cal U closed the quarter on a 5-3 run to trail 18-17 at the end of the first. Shippensburg raced out to a 24-19 lead by opening up the second quarter on a 6-2 run. A jumper from Sporio sparked a 15-2 run which gave Cal U a 34-26 lead with 3:51 remaining in the half. Shippensburg answered with a 6-3 run to trim the deficit to 37-32. Cal U ended the first half on a 3-1 run to take a 40-33 lead at the half.
The Vulcans opened up the second half on a jumper from Glenn, which led to a 13-3 run to extend the lead to 53-36. The Raiders responded with a 5-2 run to trim the lead to 55-41 with 2:18 remaining in the third. A pair of free-throws by Barrett led to a 7-1 run to give the Vulcans a 62-42 lead after three quarters. The Vulcans scored the initial four points of the fourth before the Raiders responded with five-unanswered to pull within 66-47. The two teams traded points for the next two minutes, as the Vulcans maintained a 71-52 lead. Cal U ended the game on a 7-4 run to earn a 78-56 victory.
Cal U finished the game shooting 51.7 percent (31-of-60) from the floor, including six-of-nine from beyond the arc. In comparison, Shippensburg shot 38.3 percent (18-of-47) from the field and went 20-of-29 (69.9 percent) from the foul line. Shippensburg out-rebounded Cal U by a 36-30 margin, while the Vulcans forced 26 turnovers that were converted into 33 points.
Senior forward Morgan Griffith led the Raiders with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while classmate Stephanie Knauer collected 12 points and six rebounds in the losing effort.
The Vulcans are idle for over a week before traveling to face Bloomsburg in non-conference play on Dec. 18 at 1 p.m.
