Cal U outlasted by IUP in divisional play, 3-2

Hayes, Leto and Litoborski each record double-doubles in the loss

INDIANA, Pa. (Oct. 22) – The Vulcans closed their weekend road trip on Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 loss (28-30, 26-24, 20-25, 25-21, 15-13) at IUP in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Southwest play.

With the loss, the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team drops to 16-6 overall with an 8-3 mark in conference action. Meanwhile, the Crimson Hawks improve to 16-6 on the year behind a 7-4 record in league play. 

Senior Danielle Hayes (Erie, Pa./McDowell) recorded 16 kills on 52 total attacks and added 15 digs while sophomore Seairra Barrett (Center Twp., Pa./Central Valley) registered 16 kills on a .257 hitting percentage. Junior Ashley Leto (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) tallied 12 kills and 15 digs to post her sixth kill/dig double-double of the season. Senior Megan Litoborski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) guided the offense with 46 assists against the Crimson Hawks.

Litoborski also paced the team with 16 digs for her ninth assist/dig double-double of the year. Sophomore Bayleana Sowers (Mt. Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) tallied 14 digs and four service aces in the loss. Sophomore Tina Bellhy (McDonald, Pa. /Fort Cherry) led the team with four blocks and four different players added two blocks. Junior Emily Berry (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver) also added 12 digs while playing one set on Saturday afternoon.

Cal U returns to action on Friday, Oct. 28, when it hosts Lock Haven, a member of the newly-formed PSAC Central Division, at 7 p.m.
