CALIFORNIA (Sept. 29) – In its first non-conference game of the season, the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss against No. 13 West Virginia Wesleyan at the Phillipsburg Soccer Complex.
With the loss, the Vulcans move to 4-3-2 overall. Meanwhile, the Bobcats remain undefeated at 9-0 this season after advancing to the quarterfinals in the NCAA Tournament last year.
The teams played even throughout the first half, as they combined for nine shot attempts and each was held without a corner kick. The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the 71st minute when Lauren Cvechko scored an unassisted goal after collecting a loose ball in the middle of the box. West Virginia Wesleyan added an insurance goal at the 83:44-mark when Colette Biondi tallied her fifth goal of the season.
In the loss, the Vulcans finished with a 12-10 advantage in shot attempts and posted a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.

Meghan Jayes (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) tallied five saves in the loss, marking her fourth-straight game with at least five saves.
