Seairra Barrett (Center Twp., Pa./Central Valley) scored a career-high 14 points in leading the No. 18 Vulcans to a 73-54 victory over Seton Hill in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action Wednesday evening.
With its eighth-consecutive win, the California University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team improves to 22-3 overall and remain tied for first place in the PSAC West standings with an 18-2 record in league play. Meanwhile, Seton Hill falls to 11-15 overall behind a 7-13 mark in league play.
Barrett, who added five rebounds, has now scored in double-figures in seven of the past 10 games and was one of four Vulcan players to score in double-digits. Senior
Emma Mahady (Albury, Australia/Xavier) added 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Sophomore
Miki Glenn (Bridgeport, W.Va./Bridgeport) totaled 11 points while adding a career-high 11 assists for a double-double and senior
Kaitlynn Fratz (Accident, Md./Northern Garrett) collected 10 points, three rebounds and two steals in just 13 minutes.

Precious Martin (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) cut the Seton Hill lead to 15-2 at the 15:11-mark. Junior transfer
Paige Wright (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop) hit a pair of three-pointers off the bench that pulled the Vulcans to within 15-14 midway through the first half. That keyed a 14-0 Vulcan run in which Cal U shot 6-of-10 from the floor and forced three Seton Hill turnovers. Cal U tied the game at 18-18 after a layup by Barrett at the 7:06-mark.The Vulcans then took their first lead of the game after a layup from junior
Lana Doran (Northamptonshire, England/Barking Abbey) with just over six minutes to play before halftime. Cal U then took a 41-22 halftime lead by closing the half on a 21-4 run. Six different Cal U players scored during the run with Glenn and Doran combining for 13 points.
Cal U pushed the lead to a game-high 21 points, 47-26, early in the second half after a three-pointer by Fratz at the 18:12-mark. Seton Hill responded with a 15-6 run over a nearly five-minute stretch that cut the lead to 51-41 with 13:54 to play. Senior Meghan Mastroianni led the Griffin rally with eight points during the run. The Vulcans pushed the lead back up to 61-46 after a pair of free-throws by Glenn midway through the second half which capped a 10-5 run by Cal U. Freshman
Shatara Parsons (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) grabbed an offensive rebound off a missed three-pointer and connected on a jumper before making a layup on the ensuing Cal U possession to put the Vulcans up 65-46 at the 7:17-mark. Junior Kelly Brennan made a layup that pulled the Griffins to within 67-50 with 4:25 to play before the Vulcans earned the win.
The Vulcans finished the game shooting 42.0 percent (29-of-69) while shooting at a 37.5 clip (6-of-16) from three-point territory. Meanwhile, the Griffins connected on 45.8 percent (25-of-48) shots, including a 42.9 clip (6-of-14) from beyond the arc. Cal U out-rebounded Seton Hill 45-28, including a decisive 23-4 edge on the offensive glass that led to 18 second-chance points.
Brennan scored a game-high 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting while adding four assists to pace Seton Hill. Mastroianni added 15 points on six-of-eight shooting and was three-of-four from the foul line.
Cal U continues PSAC West action on Saturday, Feb. 21, when it hosts Gannon at 3 p.m.
