Cal U posts shutout versus Lock Haven, 3-0

CALIFORNIA (Oct. 17) – Behind goals by three different players, the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team registered a 3-0 win over Lock Haven in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Friday afternoon at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.

With the victory, the Vulcans improve to 9-2-2 overall and extend their unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1). Cal U also moved into third place in the league standings with 25 points and has five games left in the regular season. After a scoreless first half, junior Janelle McCann (Burlington, Vt./Tilton School) scored her seventh goal of the season off a cross by senior Erin Hogan (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) from inside the box. The Vulcans added to the lead at the 64:00-mark when McCann and senior Chelsea Crockett (Gilmanton, N.H./Gilford) executed a give-and-go in front of the net with Crockett registering her PSAC-leading ninth goal of the year. Freshman Devon Goetze (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) added an unassisted goal, the first of her career, on a breakaway in the 81st minute.

Sophomore Meghan Jayes (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) recorded her second-straight shutout, making one save in 90 minutes. Lock Haven goalkeeper Morgan Euston posted five saves in the losing effort.

Cal U attempted 11 shots in the second half and finished the game with a 16-2 shot advantage. The Vulcans also registered all three corner kicks in the game.
