With the sweep, the Vulcans remain unbeaten in divisional play at 12-0 and improve to 31-5 overall. Meanwhile, the Fighting Scots fall to 22-17 overall and 5-7 in league action.

In Game 1, Cal U trailed 2-1 after four-plus innings before taking a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out rally. Left fielder Kayleigh Braim (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) started the inning with a single before scoring on a double by junior second baseman Julie Mackenzie (Mississauga, Ontario/Meadowvale) that hit off the center-field wall. Freshman catcher Alyson Johnson (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central) followed with a go-ahead double down the right-field line that scored Mackenzie.

Sophomore Maria Greco (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) improved to 13-3 after tossing her 10th complete game of the season in the opener. She allowed two runs on only two hits and registered nine strikeouts, including five-straight in the second and third innings.

The Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the second inning of Game 1 on a two-out RBI single through the middle by junior first baseman Julia Mueller (Bairdford, Pa./Deer Lakes). Edinboro evened the score in the fourth when it executed a hit-and-run with Katelyn Gurgiolo scoring from first on a double by second baseman Dana Webb, who made it a 2-1 game later in the inning when she scored on a wild pitch.

Mackenzie finished the opener, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored.

Sophomore Beth Mullins suffered the loss after allowing three runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.

In the nightcap, the Fighting Scots led 4-3 after two-plus innings before the Vulcans erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the inning. Freshman shortstop Jillian Russell (London, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic) led off the inning with a solo homer (seventh of the season) to tie the score at 4-4. Sophomore third baseman Danielle Easton (Hanover, Pa./South Western) followed with a double before scoring on a single by designated player Kristen McKenzie (Senneville, Quebec/St. Thomas). With the bases loaded and no outs, freshman centerfielder Aubrey Martin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick) placed a single behind third base before Mackenzie drilled a two-run double down the line. After a sacrifice fly by Johnson scored a run, Russell expanded the lead to 10-4 with two-out RBI single.

In the bottom of the fourth, Cal U scored two more runs on a solo homer (second of the season) by Mueller and a RBI double by Braim.

Junior Sonia Petrosoniak (Mississauga, Ontario/Clarkson) earned the win after working 4.0 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits with four strikeouts. Mullins (9-9) was saddled with the loss in the nightcap after being roughed up for 10 runs (all earned) on 11 hits.
