SALEM, Va. (March 20) – The No. 6 Vulcans set a pair of single-game school records on Friday with a 30-0 victory in five innings against Salem International University at the Salem Tournament.
The California University of Pennsylvania softball team, who moved up two spots in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 25 poll, improve to 13-1 overall on the season and extended its win streak to six games.
The Vulcans set school records for most runs in a game and the largest margin of victory. The previous mark for both categories came in a 27-0 victory against Davis & Elkins in March of 1995.
Junior
Lauren Shaheen (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) earned the victory after throwing 3.0 perfect innings. Of the nine batters she faced, she registered seven strikeouts. Senior
Allison Hasbrouck (Corry, Pa./Corry) tossed the final two innings to complete the shutout.
Cal U continues play at the three-day tournament tomorrow, Saturday, March 21, with games against Ohio Valley University (W.Va.) and Seton Hill University.
