Bernarding captured the first invitational title of his career on Saturday morning while competing at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. He won the eight-kilometer race by over 24 seconds after crossing the finish line in 25 minutes, 7.2 seconds. Bernarding competed in a field of over 130 entries and helped the Vulcans finish third in the team standings.
