Barbara Letourneau enters her third season as the assistant coach at Cal U after serving six seasons in the same role at NCAA Division III Frostburg State (Md.).

While she was at Frostburg State, the program won 144 matches and went 48-6 in conference action. In six seasons, Letourneau helped lead the Bobcats to five Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournaments, three AMCC Tournament titles, one Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship and four NCAA Tournament appearances.

In 2010, Frostburg State set the school record for wins in a season as it finished 34-4 with a perfect 8-0 record in its first season in the CAC, and advanced to the NCAA Regional Championship for the first time.

Prior to Frostburg State, Letourneau taught and coached at Dunbar High School in Baltimore. As the head coach in 2004, she guided the Poets to a state regional championship and a 14-2 record. The native of Brazil also spent three years as an assistant coach at Stevenson (formerly Villa Julie) and three years with the Time Out Volleyball Club in Baltimore.

Before moving to the United States, Letourneau played for the Minas Tenis Clube in her hometown of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, from the ages of 11-16, winning two city championships in that time. Additionally, she served as a captain for Colegio Monte Calvario from 1985-87 and for Colegio Arnaldo from 1988-90.

A 1999 graduate of Towson (Md.), Letourneau completed her master’s degree in human performance in 2007 from Frostburg State. She and her husband Peter have a son, Nathaniel.
