A native of Virginia, Alaina Torres enters her first season as assistant coach at California (PA) in 2024.

Torres recently was a standout setter while playing at Bethany (W.Va.), a NCAA Division III program, from 2019-23. She helped lead the Bison to back-to-back Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships as a junior and senior following a runner-up finish in 2021. Torres closed her career with over 2,900 assists and was a three-time All-PAC First-Team selection.

In 2022, Torres helped lead sixth-seeded Bethany to its first conference title in four years with a 3-1 victory top-seed Thiel. She was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the PAC Tournament after averaging 11.23 assists and 2.62 digs per set, including 45 assists in the championship match.

Torres and Bison earned the second seed last fall and repeated as PAC Champions for the first time in program history. Bethany posted a 3-1 win over top-seeded Chatham in the finals and made its fourth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Torres led the league with both 870 total assists and 9.16 assists per set in 2023.

Additionally, Torres has worked with the Ohio Valley Company in the Wheeling area as a coach, operations assistant, director of volleyball training and tournament director. She has served as a head coach and assistant coach for a variety of ages and skill levels. Torres also has experience as a camp director and assistant coach at scholastic level while in her native Virginia.

Torres earned her bachelor's degree in political science with minors in both history and Spanish from Bethany in 2023.
