A former player and coach within the area, Anita Onufer enters her sixth year as head tennis coach at California (PA) during the 2024-25 season.

Onufer has posted a 26-46 overall record while with the Vulcans, which includes a pair of pandemic-shortened campaigns. Cal has won at least seven matches in each of the last three years after winning a combined 11 matches the previous six seasons. Last spring, the Vulcans posted their best finish in the PSAC West standings since winning the 2016 PSAC Championship.

Prior to joining Cal, Onufer spent two seasons on the coaching staff at fellow Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)-member Seton Hill after being a three-sport student-athlete at Saint Vincent, a NCAA Division III program. She was a member of the tennis, swimming and lacrosse teams while with the Bearcats.

Onufer helped Seton Hill finish fourth in the PSAC West standings twice after the program won only a combined five divisional matches in its initial four years in the league. The Griffins missed qualifying for the PSAC Tournament by just one match in each of the two seasons.

As a student-athlete, Onufer primarily played fifth singles and third doubles while at Saint Vincent. She posted a combined 10 wins in singles play over her last two seasons and teamed with Maria Gismondi for 15 wins in doubles play as a junior and senior. The Bearcats finished as high as third at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships during her college career.

Onufer was also a member of the lacrosse team at Saint Vincent for three seasons and was a member of the swimming team as a freshman. In lacrosse, she appeared in over 35 career games and tallied nine points on six goals and three assists. Onufer was a member of the league-champion 200 freestyle relay and placed third overall in the 100 butterfly at the 2014 PAC Swimming Championships.

A native of Pittsburgh, Onufer was a three-sport letter winner at Serra Catholic. She was a three-year state qualifier in swimming and received all-conference status in volleyball. Onufer, who also competed on the track & field team, served as team captain for both the swimming and volleyball teams.

Onufer completed her bachelor's degree in biology with a concentration in organismal biology and a minor in psychology from Saint Vincent in 2017. She later received her master's degree in business administration with a concentration in healthcare administration from Seton Hill in 2018.
