Mike Jacobs enters his sixth season on the coaching staff working with the defensive linemen for the Vulcans.
While with the Cal U program, Jacobs has tutored a trio of All-American defensive linemen - Willie Walker, Thomas Mulabah and B.J. Stevens. Walker was a two-time finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award and the 2009 PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year. Mulabah broke Walker’s all-time school record for TFL, and Stevens led NCAA Division II in sacks per game last year and broke the single-season school records for sacks and TFL.
Jacobs previously spent three years at Purdue, serving as an offensive graduate assistant. He started his coaching career in 2002 as a graduate assistant and coached the offensive linemen and long snappers at Eastern Michigan.
In between his stops at EMU and Purdue, Jacobs spent the 2004 season as the offensive line coach at Wilmington (Ohio).
Jacobs was a two-year letterman on the offensive line for Ohio State playing for both John Cooper and Jim Tressel. Following his senior season in 2001, he earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. He graduated from Ohio State in 2001 with a bachelor of science in education before completing his master’s degree in health and kinesiology at Purdue.
