Dave Cole has made an impact in his four seasons as a coach with the California University of Pennsylvania football program. Cole also serves as the Vulcans’ recruiting coordinator. In each of the last three seasons, the Vulcans’ defensive backs have helped the team post 15-plus interceptions.
In last season’s run to the NCAA Semifinals, Cole helped coach a defense that ranked among the national leaders in Division II with 18 interceptions. The secondary, which featured two first-team PSAC-West performers, also helped the Vulcans rank fifth in the country in pass efficiency (93.3).
The success of the secondary last year was preceded by back-to-back seasons with 20 and 21 interceptions by the team in 2005 and 2006, respectively.
Cole is a former four-year player and two-year starter for the Vulcans. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 2004 before finishing his master’s degree in geography and regional planning at Cal in 2006.
A native of Cincinnati, Cole was a first-team league all-star and earned all-city honors as a defensive back at Winton Woods High School.
