Dave Cole

Dave Cole begins his 10th season as a member of the coaching staff at Cal U, serving as the secondary coach and recruiting coordinator.

While with the Vulcans, Cole has mentored a pair of AFCA All-Americans in Terrence Johnson and Rontez Miles. Johnson has played the last two seasons in the NFL, starting two games in 2011 with the Indianapolis Colts. Miles attended the NFL Combine this spring and signed with the New York Jets as a free agent.

Cole also coached Tommie Campbell, who was selected in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. He has played nearly 30 games over the last two seasons while becoming a special teams standout.

Cal U has led the PSAC in interceptions in five of the last eight seasons. In 2011, the Vulcans tied for second in the league with 20 interceptions by 12 different players. In 2007, the Vulcans were the top-ranked defense in the nation and led the PSAC with 18 interceptions.

Cole is a former four-year player and two-year starter for the Vulcans. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 2004 before finishing his master’s degree in geography and regional planning at Cal in 2006.

A native of Cincinnati, Cole was a first-team league all-star and earned all-city honors as a defensive back at Winton Woods High School.

Cole and his wife Sharron have one daughter, Saniya.
