A former starting defensive back for the Vulcans, Chad Garnett enters his third season with the Cal U coaching staff and will be working with the secondary.
In 2019, Cal U ranked among the top 15 in the country with 17 interceptions, as 10 players recorded at least one interception. The Vulcans also held opponents to just 17.5 points per game, which was second-best in the PSAC, and scored a league-high five defensive touchdowns.
Garnett was a five-year member of the program from 2015-18 and started a combined nine games over his last two seasons. In 2018, he tied his career high in tackles while starting seven games. Garnett helped the Vulcans make back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Playoffs as a sophomore and junior, while the program also captured the PSAC Championship in 2016.
A native of Pittsburgh, Garnett completed his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Cal U in 2018 and later earned his master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in business analytics from Cal U.
Garnett is the twin brother of former Cal U defensive back Nigel Garnett.
