The most prolific quarterback in school history, Noah Mitchell enters his first year as head flag football coach at California (PA) in 2025
Mitchell started all 43 games in his career from 2018-22 and set virtually every career passing record with the Vulcans. Following his collegiate playing career, he coached at the scholastic level before returning to Cal as a graduate assistant with the football program.
As a player, Mitchell was tabbed the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Freshman of the Year in 2018 and later was selected the PSAC West Offensive Athlete of the Year following his junior campaign. He shattered the all-time school record with 10,788 passing yards while becoming one of only 10 quarterbacks in league history to eclipse 10,000 yards. Mitchell also finished his career with 88 touchdown passes, 897 completions, 1,489 attempts and 11,055 yards of total offense – all school records.
Mitchell returned to Cal in 2024 as a graduate assistant and was responsible for the wide receivers. The Vulcans finished with nearly 3,000 receiving yards and over 20 touchdowns while advancing to the Super Region One Championship for the first time since 2016. Cal also appeared in the PSAC Championship before finishing the year No. 12 in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 poll. Mithcell helped mentor standout wide receivers Eric Willis III, who eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards and repeated as an All-PSAC West First-Team selection, and Omari Hopkins, who led the team with eight receiving touchdowns.
In addition to his role as head flag football coach, Mitchell serves as assistant Athletic Operations Manager at Cal.
Mitchell earned his bachelor's degree in communication studies from PennWest in 2022 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in teaching education with a concentration in social studies.
