A former four-year starting third baseman for the Vulcans, Louden Conte enters his first season as a volunteer coach with the California (PA) baseball program in 2023.
Conte, the oldest child of head coach Mike Conte, started at third base from 2019-22 and was a two-time All-PSAC West First-Team selection. He helped the Vulcans record a pair of 30-win campaigns while making three-straight appearances in the PSAC Tournament. Conte posted a .324 average (144-for-444) and a .434 on-base percentage over his career while starting 140 games. Additionally, he finished with 19 homers, 105 RBI and 111 runs scored.
As a sophomore, Conte helped Cal post the winningest season in school history with 37 victories and tie for second in the PSAC West standings. He ranked second on the team with a .343 average and a .564 slugging percentage while boasting a career-best .462 on-base percentage.
Conte set career highs with a .356 average and 35 RBI as a fifth-year player last spring. He belted six homers in each of his last two seasons while earning All-PSAC West First-Team laurels both years. Conte also received NCBWA All-Region Honorable Mention in 2022 after being a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection the previous year.
A native of California, Conte completed his bachelor’s degree in business administration and a minor in management in May of 2020. He then later pursued a second bachelorette degree in exercise science while finishing his eligibility.
