Following nearly a decade as an assistant coach, Joey Noro enters his first season as head coach at California (PA) in 2026.

Noro recently finished his ninth year on the coaching staff with the Vulcans after serving the past two seasons as associate head coach. He has worked with a combined 14 All-PSAC West pitchers during his tenure at Cal, including a combined 11 honorees over the last five years.

Noro helped the Vulcans set the school record with 38 wins this season while advancing to the PSAC Championship for the first time in 15 years. Cal also made its sixth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament this spring, its first since the 2010 campaign. Cal featured five All-PSAC West First-Team selections in 2025 and all five have recently been recognized as consensus all-region honorees.

Over the last five full seasons, Cal has posted a 151-87 overall record for a .634 winning percentage. The Vulcans have won at least 25 games each year and made four appearances in the PSAC Tournament during that span. Cal has ranked among the top 20 in the country in ERA twice in the last four springs.

Starting pitching Dylan Brosky anchored the staff in 2022 and ranked fifth in the league with a 2.39 ERA. A two-time All-PSAC West honoree, he tossed the program's first no-hitter in eight years before selecting to use his final season of eligibility at Cincinnati. Additionally, two-way standout Jacob McCaskey received All-PSAC West laurels at both utility and starting pitcher in 2022. He was an ABCA Second-Team All-American at utility before opting to use his senior year of eligibility at Gardner-Webb (N.C.) and is currently playing professionally with the Washington Wild Things.

Noro also mentored Nick Riggle in recent years with Riggle finishing tied for the school's career record of 23 victories. He also ranks second all-time in program history with 261.0 innings pitched while sitting among the top 10 with 180 strikeouts. Riggle was a consensus all-region selection as a senior in 2021 and was a two-time All-PSAC West honoree.

Noro spent three years as an assistant coach at Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Alabama, following a two-year stint at Lawson State Community College in Birmingham, Alabama. He also played at Calhoun for two seasons before transferring to Montevallo (AL), which was then a member of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC), for his last two years.

In 2016, Noro helped the Warhawks post a 20-win improvement and advance to the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Championship. Calhoun finished the year with a 35-25 overall record and was third in the ACCC North standings with a 16-12 divisional record.

Noro started his college coaching career at Lawson State, which is also a member of the ACCC, in 2011. He worked with both pitchers and outfielders during his time with the Cougars. In the summer, Noro previously served on the coaching staff of the Licking County Settlers in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League (GLSCL). He was the manager of the team for two years after serving as an assistant coach in 2013. Noro led the Settlers to the GLSCL Playoffs in both of his seasons as manager after winning the league championship in 2013.

Noro returned to the Pittsburgh area in the summer of 2014 to serve as head coach of the 16-and-under team for the Pittsburgh Diamond Dawgs.

Following a standout scholastic career as a pitcher and third baseman at Fox Chapel, Noro was a pitcher at Calhoun from 2008-09 and earned all-region laurels. While with the Warhawks, he was a teammate of future MLB pitchers Buddy Boshers and J.J. Hoover. Noro then played his last two seasons at Montevallo in the PBC and totaled over 100 innings pitched in 35 appearances.

Noro earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Montevallo in 2013. He and his wife Taylor reside in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania.
