A former player and assistant coach within the PSAC West, Cole Shaffer enters his first season as a volunteer coach with the Cal U baseball program in 2022.
Shaffer was an infielder at Clarion from 2017-20 before spending last season as a volunteer coach at IUP. While at Clarion, he totaled nearly 400 at-bats while making 125 career starts for multiple head coaches. Shaffer nearly hit at a .300 clip as a sophomore before the Golden Eagles posted their second-winningest season in school history during the 2019 campaign.
Last spring, Shaffer joined IUP as a volunteer assistant for then-head coach Anthony Rebyanski, who served as an assistant coach at Cal U from 2015-16.
Shaffer earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Clarion in 2020 and completed his master’s degree in sport management from IUP the following year.
