CLARION, Pa. (April 11) – The California (PA) tennis team opened its weekend road trip by cruising to a 7-0 victory at Clarion in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action on Saturday afternoon.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (10-9, 2-1) extended their winning streak in the series against the Golden Eagles to 10 matches, including three-straight 7-0 victories.
• Eight different players in the lineup earned at least one win for Cal.
• The Vulcans swept the doubles session to capture the doubles point on Saturday.
• Freshman
Fernanda Sandoval Martinez and junior
Lilli Schreiber opened the match with a 6-0 win at second doubles before sophomores
Garance Laforet and
Gianna Bloom posted a 6-1 victory at the third position.
• Senior
Leandra Guldimann and freshman
Sofia Rodriguez completed the session with a 6-0 win at the first slot.
• Cal won all six singles matches for the fourth time this spring.
• Sophomore
Izabelle Heacox started play with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the sixth position and Schreiber followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the fourth slot.
• Rodriguez then tallied a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fifth singles and Guldimann collected a 6-0, 6-0 win at the first slot for her 10th singles victory of the season.
• Laforet added a 6-1, 6-0 win at the third position and senior
Diletta Maria Mungo posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory at second singles.
