WASHINGTON, Pa. (March 25) – The Vulcans were shut out at home for the first time since April 2024, as they suffered a 5-0 loss to Point Park at EQT Park in non-conference play on Wednesday afternoon.
NOTES
• California (12-7) had previously scored in 35-consecutive home games dating back to April 13, 2024.
• The Pioneers captured the Mountain East Conference Championship in 2025, but were not eligible for the NCAA Tournament due to their transition period from the NAIA.
• Cal and Point Park combined to use 11 pitchers in the mid-week contest with both teams using at least five pitchers.

Colin Watson (1-1) suffered the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks in 3.1 innings (65 pitches).

Ben Barr logged 1.2 innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts and freshman
Tanner Phillips tossed 2.0 innings of scores relief.
• The Pioneers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second on three hits before scoring an additional run in the fourth on a wild pitch.
• In the bottom of the seventh, Cal loaded the bases with one out before a pitching change by Point Park resulted in an inning-ending double play.
• The Pioneers added an insurance run in the eighth on a bases-loaded walk with two outs, 4-0.
• In the ninth, Point Park designated hitter Olindo Pezzone belted a solo homer – his ninth of the season – to increase the lead to a 5-0 margin.
• The Vulcans were limited to five hits in the contest with senior right fielder
Connor Evans recording the lone extra-base hit.
