BARTOW, Fla. (March 10) – The Vulcans were shutout in a pair of games at THE Spring Games in Florida on Tuesday, falling 3-0 to No. 21 McKendree (IL) and suffering a 9-0 run-rule loss versus Northwood (MI).
VS McKENDREE
• The Bearcats (17-5) were picked third in the preseason Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) poll following back-to-back years with at least 30 victories.
• McKendree capitalized on a two-out error in the bottom of the second to take a 1-0 lead. The Bearcats added two runs in the third after collecting three-straight hits with two outs.
• Senior
Megan Nidoh (1-1) suffered the loss after allowing one run (unearned) on two hits in 2.0 innings.
• Freshman
Abigail Singer worked 4.0 innings of relief against McKendree and yielded two runs (both earned) on five hits.
VS NORTHWOOD
• The Timberwolves (5-9) and Vulcans have met five times in Florida since the 2009 campaign.
• Northwood raced out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the first behind a three-run homer by catcher Jenna Kowals.
• The Timberwolves secured the run-rule victory by scoring twice in the sixth inning.
• Freshman
Indyana Bolyea (0-2) was saddled with the loss after surrendering seven runs (four earned) in 0.1 inning.
• Classmate
Autumn Bielecki worked 5.1 innings of relief and allowed two runs (both earned) on six hits.

• The Vulcans close out play at THE Spring Games on Thursday, March 12, when they face Ashland (OH) and Saint Martin's (WA), starting at 2:30 p.m.
