Women's Basketball falls at No. 10 IUP

Balog posts fourth 20-point game of the year; Vulcans shoot 85.0 percent from free-throw line

INDIANA, Pa. (Jan. 28) – Facing their fifth nationally-ranked opponent this season, the Vulcans suffered a 97-66 loss at No. 10 IUP on Wednesday evening in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play.

NOTES
• California (9-13, 5-7) has lost back-to-back games in the series with IUP after previously winning five of six contests against the Crimson Hawks.
• Sophomore Trinity Balog led all players with 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including three-of-four from beyond the arc, and added three assists.
• Balog has registered four 20-point games in her first year as a starter.
• Junior Kennedy Bankett finished with 15 points, while sophomore Hope Hawkins added eight points.
• Junior Kimaya Williams led the team with 10 rebounds and was credited with three blocks.
• IUP scored eight-straight points late in the first quarter and finished the quarter with a 24-14 lead.
• The Crimson Hawks led by 16 points, 37-21, midway through the second quarter before the Vulcans cut the deficit to 37-27 with 3:25 left before the break.
• IUP held a 49-39 halftime lead despite Cal shooting over 55 percent in the first half.
• The Vulcans worked the deficit to single digits at the 7:46-mark of the third quarter before being held to two field goals, as the Crimson Hawks stretched the lead to 21 points, 74-53, entering the fourth quarter.
• IUP extended the lead to as many as 33 points, 97-64, in the final minute of the game.
• The Vulcans finished the game shooting 42.0 percent (21-of-50) from the floor and converted 17-of-20 (85.0 percent) from the free-throw line.
• IUP held a 32-22 rebounding advantage and forced Cal into 25 turnovers.
• The Crimson Hawks made a blistering 65.2 percent (43-of-66) from the field and attempted just six free-throws.

• Cal closes out the opening round of PSAC West play on Saturday, Jan. 31, when it hosts Pitt-Johnstown at 1 p.m.
• The Vulcans will recognize their PSAC 75th Anniversary honorees during halftime of the contest.
