CALIFORNIA (Sept. 4) – The California (PA) football team edged defending-MEC Champion Charleston (WV) with a 23-19 victory at Adamson Stadium, highlighted by a 76-yard punt return for a touchdown and a last-minute interception.

California (PA) improved to 1-0 on the season, ranked No. 14 nationally. The Golden Eagles fell to 1-1 overall, holding the No. 12 national ranking.

1ST QUARTER
- California University of Pennsylvania scored first with a 35-yard field goal by Harry Radcliffe at 08:53.
- Senior Roman Purcell rushed for a 7-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 10-0 at 05:00.
- UC responded with a 98-yard kickoff return touchdown by Cale Barringer, narrowing the score to 10-7.
- The Vulcans accumulated 76 rushing yards on 12 attempts, including a 33-yard gain by Bobbie Boyd, Jr.
