WACO, Texas (Sept. 29) – Following a road victory over a top-10 team, the California (PA) football team climbed two positions to No. 6 in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 poll on Monday afternoon.
The Vulcans raced out to a 21-point lead in the first half on Saturday night before scoring game-winning touchdown with 1:00 remaining to claim a 45-38 victory at then-No. 4 Slippery Rock. The Vulcans were slotted No. 15 in the preseason poll before climbing to No. 10 following a Week 1 victory and sat No. 8 in each of the past two editions of the poll.

Additionally, Super Region One boats a pair of teams in the latest top-25 poll. Virginia Union (3-1) of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) climbed three slots to No. 18 after cruising to a 59-7 victory at Shaw. Frostburg State (4-0) – the Week 9 opponent for Cal – of the Mountain East Conference (MEC) made its season debut in the national rankings at No. 23 following a 55-9 road win over West Virginia Wesleyan.
The Vulcans continue PSAC West play on Saturday, Oct. 4, when they host Seton Hill at 12 p.m.
