WHEELING, W.Va. (Sept. 20) – The Vulcans split a pair of matches on Saturday while competing at the Atlantic Region Crossover, dropping a match to host Wheeling before registering a win over Fairmont State.
NOTES
• The California (PA) volleyball team stands at 9-2 overall following a spit of four matches at the Atlantic Region Crossover this weekend.
• Freshman
Olivia Weiseman and junior
Sarah Stephenson combined for over 100 points this weekend while averaging 3.93 and 3.29 kills per set, respectively.
NOTES VS WHEELING
• The Vulcans were dealt a 3-1 loss (25-17, 24-26, 25-21, 25-16) to the Cardinals, which won 11-consecutive Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championships prior to last year.
• Weiseman tallied a kill/dig double-double with 15 kills and 14 digs, plus two blocks.
• Stephenson posted 11 kills and five blocks, while senior
Elisa Rugiero finished with nine kills on a .308 hitting percentage.

Morgan Johnson registered 21 assists and senior
Adrianna Favata collected 17 assists in the loss.
• Senior
Caroline Mercer paced the defense with 15 digs and junior
Kay Lindenfelser added 11 digs versus the Cardinals.

Lindsey Scammell recorded six blocks and freshman
Ava Norfolk finished with four blocks.
• The match served as a return for head coach
Audrey Emerich to Wheeling, as she played five seasons for the Cardinals and spent two years as a graduate assistant.
NOTES VS FAIRMONT STATE
• Cal earned a 3-1 victory (25-16, 6-25, 25-23, 25-20) over the Fighting Falcons, which entered play with double-digit wins.
• Stephenson and Weiseman both established career highs with 21 kills while hitting identical .327 clips.
• Rugiero added eight kills on Saturday versus Fairmont State.
• Johnson set a career high with 24 assists and Favata finished with 23 assists in the win.
• Mercer was credited with a career-high 25 digs, as five players reached double-digit digs.
• Johnson and Favata both collected assist/dig double-doubles and Lindenfelser totaled 11 digs.
• The trio of Norfolk, Scammell and Stephenson all registered three blocks.
