Vulcans fall late at West Virginia Wesleyan

Bishop, Rexroad both play 45 minutes in net; California suffers third-straight loss by 1-0 margin

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (Sept. 10) – The Vulcans dropped a 1-0 contest on Wednesday evening at West Virginia Wesleyan in non-conference play after allowing the game-winning goal in the final three minutes of the contest.

NOTES
• The California (PA) women's soccer team (0-3) has suffered a 1-0 loss in all three of their contests this fall.
• The Vulcans and Bobcats were scoreless at halftime after the teams combined for eight shot attempts.
• WVWC registered the game-winning goal at the 87:02-mark when Sydne Alexander scored off an assist from Mia Rodgriguez.
• Cal used a pair of freshmen goalkeepers in the contest with Autumn Bishop tallying three saves while playing a scoreless first half.
• Classmate Kaleigh Rexroad made her collegiate debut on Wednesday and made one save over the final 45 minutes.
• The Bobcats held an 11-5 shot advantage in the contest, while the Vulcans held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks - all five kicks by Cal were in the second half.

• The Vulcans open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play on Saturday, Sept. 13, when they travel to face No. 10 Gannon in Erie, Pennsylvania, at 6:30 p.m.
• The Golden Knights were the preseason favorite in the PSAC West this fall after finishing last year with an undefeated record in divisional action.
