Jake Kramer broke the all-time school record for saves that stood for over four decades on Wednesday afternoon, as the California (PA) baseball team earned a 9-6 victory over Salem in non-conference play.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (3-0) have scored a combined 28 runs over three games after tallying at least nine runs in every contest.
• A preseason-All-American, Kramer entered the spring tied with Dave Yasenchak (1980-83) for first place in school history with 16 career saves.
• Kramer eclipsed Yasenchak for the single-season school record last spring with 10 saves.
• He is now tied for ninth all-time in PSAC history with 17 saves, which are the most since Wyatt Daughtery (2016-19) of Slippery Rock finished with 18 saves.

Caleb Collins went 2-for-3 with three runs scored while batting ninth in the lineup.
• Sophomore center fielder
Ikon Jones collected two hits, two runs scored, two walks and two steals from the leadoff spot.

Payton Conte and senior left fielder
Ryan Callahan both finished with three RBI and combined to score three runs on Wednesday.
• Cal held a 1-0 lead before Salem tied the score in the bottom of the fifth.
• The Vulcans responded with three runs in the sixth behind back-to-back RBI doubles by Callahan and senior second baseman
Santino Marra.
• The Tigers cut the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the inning before Cal answered with four runs in the seventh.
• Conte delivered a two-run double with the bases loaded and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Callahan.
• Salem totaled three runs in the bottom of the eighth to trim the deficit and brought the game-tying run to the plate in the ninth against Kramer.
• The Vulcans used eight different pitchers in the win with only redshirt junior starting pitcher
Roman Gill working more than 1.0 inning.
• Freshman
Colin Watson was credited with the victory in his college debut after retiring all three batters he faced on just 10 pitches.

• The Vulcans return to action with seven games in the greater Lakeland-Winter Haven area of Florida from March 2-8.
• Cal will play four contests against G-MAC members, including a doubleheader against Ohio Dominican.
