BAY CITY, Mich. (Dec. 17) – One of the most prolific returners in the country, California (PA) sophomore return specialist Deontae Williams was selected a Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) Second-Team All-American on Wednesday afternoon.

Williams became the first player in program history to earn an All-America designation from the organization at return specialist. The Vulcans have featured 10 different players named D2CCA All-Americans over the last 15 years. Williams was one of eight players from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) voted D2CCA All-Americans on Wednesday with all eight receiving second-team honors.

A product of Woodland Hills, Williams finished second in the country with 912 combined return yards while helping Cal advance to the NCAA Playoffs for a second-straight year. He ranked fourth in NCAA Division II with 34.0 yards per kickoff return, highlighted by a pair of kick returns for touchdowns. Williams also sat among the top 10 in the nation with 11.7 yards per punt return, as he became the first Cal player in nearly a decade to return both a kickoff and punt for a touchdown in the same year.

Williams has totaled 1,267 kick return yards over the last two years, which are the most in over a decade. He also has posted 375 yards on punt returns to rank as the most since former D2CCA All-Americans Garry Brown (wide receiver) and Aaron Terry (defensive back), who were teammates from 2013-16.

Earlier on Wednesday, Williams was named an American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Second-Team All-American at all-purpose. He was previously tabbed D2CCA first-team all-region at return specialist after earning All-PSAC West laurels last month at both return specialist (first team) and wide receiver (second team), a feat not accomplished since Brown in 2016.

The D2CCA All-America Teams are selected by the athletic communication professionals across the country.
