CALIFORNIA (Sept. 21) – The Vulcans scored a pair of second-half goals in a 2-1 victory over Virginia State on Saturday afternoon in non-conference play after the first half was delayed three-plus hours due to multiple lightning delays.

• California (2-2-1) remains unbeaten at Phillipsburg Soccer Facility this fall behind a 2-0-1 mark at home.
• The game was initially delayed for two-plus hours less than 10 minutes into the contest.
• Play resumed briefly before another delay of 50 minutes.
• Following halftime, the Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute on a goal by junior
Brady Olsen following a pass from freshman
Arik Landau.
• VSU responded at the 64:52-mark with a goal in the bottom left corner of the net.
• The Vulcans countered in the 71st minute with an unassisted goal by senior
Dereck Reyes.
