LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Aug.14) – The California (PA) men's soccer team was tabbed to place fifth in the preseason Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West poll released by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
The Vulcans finished sixth in the league standings last fall with six points behind a 2-8 mark in divisional action and posted a 4-13-1 overall record.
Gannon was the preseason favorite in the PSAC West with five first-place votes after advancing to the national quarterfinals in 2023 following an unbeaten mark in divisional play. Seton Hill was slotted second in the poll after advancing to the semifinals of the PSAC Tournament last year, while Lock Haven was positioned third and earned the remaining first-place vote to round out the top half of the poll.
In the PSAC East, Millersville was the preseason favorite with five first-place votes after capturing its fourth PSAC Championship in five seasons in 2023. West Chester garnered the remaining first-place vote and ranked second in the poll, while Bloomsburg was slotted third.
Note, Lock Haven shifted to the PSAC West in men's soccer this fall following the departure of Mercyhurst to the NCAA Division I level. The PSAC features a balanced two-division format of 12 total teams in men's soccer in 2024.
