Kramer tabbed Second-Team All-American

NCBWA All-America Teams

WINGATE, N.C. (May 23) – California (PA) sophomore relief pitcher Jake Kramer was named a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Second-Team All-American on Thursday afternoon, becoming the program's first All-American from the organization in over a decade.

Kramer established himself as one of the elite relievers in the country this spring, finishing with a 4-1 record and a single-season school record of 10 saves. He ranked fifth in NCAA Division II in saves at the end of the regular season, which is currently eight-most entering NCAA Super Regionals this weekend. Kramer worked 30.2 innings over 20 appearances, including eight outings of at least 2.0 innings. The Greensburg native totaled 26 strikeouts this year and held opponents to only a .155 average (16-for-103) while surrendering just one home run.

A 6-foot-3 sophomore, Kramer has recently earned first-team all-region status from both the NCBWA and the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) with the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) all-region teams yet to be announced. Additionally, he was an All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West First-Team selection after garnering second-team laurels as a freshman in 2023.

Kramer broke the single-season school record for saves of nine that was held since 1983 by Dave Yasenchak. He also tied Yasenchak (1980-83) for the all-time school record of 16 saves in just two years. Kramer, who received the 2024 Bruce Dal Canton Pitching Award, became the program's first NCBWA All-American pitcher since Randy Sturgill in 2011.
