INDIANA, Pa. (March 26) – The Vulcans extended their winning streak to six games on Tuesday afternoon with a 7-4 victory in Game 1 of a doubleheader at IUP in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play before Game 2 was halted in the fifth inning due to rain and darkness.

• The California (PA) softball team improves to 7-6 this season behind a 5-0 record in divisional action.
• The Crimson Hawks drop to 15-8 overall with a 1-2 mark in league play.

Carlena Fiorilli tallied three hits, including a pair of doubles, three RBI and one run scored.
• Senior designated player
Alyssa Rose posted two hits and two RBI, while junior first baseman
Kaitlyn Achtermeier collected two hits and one RBI.
• Junior pitcher
Caleigh Rister finished with two hits, one RBI and two runs scored from the leadoff spot.
• Rister (3-4) earned the complete-game victory after allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits in 7.0 innings (142 pitches) with six strikeouts.
ACTION
• Cal took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a two-out RBI double by Fiorilli before IUP tied the score in the bottom of the inning on a ground-out.
• Crimson Hawk first baseman Jordan Slyvia opened the fourth with a solo homer, 2-1.
• The Vulcans responded with three runs in the fifth after six-straight batters reached base safely.
• Rister posted an RBI single before Fiorilli followed with a two-run single.
• Cal added three runs on four hits to take a 7-2 lead in the top of the seventh.
• Rose delivered a two-run single before Achtermeier later tallied a two-out RBI double.
• IUP scored twice in the bottom of the inning on ground-outs after having runners on second and third.
• Crimson Hawk starter Kendall Young (6-4) was saddled with the loss after yielding four runs (all earned) on four hits and three walks in 4.1 innings (74 pitches).

• The Vulcans held an 8-5 lead in the top of the fifth before the game was halted due to conditions.

• Cal returns to action on Thursday, March 28, when it hosts a doubleheader against Slippery Rock at Lilley Field in PSAC West action, starting at 2 p.m.
